Suiting Styles: A Ralph Lauren Way

Choosing a tie

How do i know which shirt and tie to wear with my suit? One rule of thumb: Avoid tripling a pattern. Doubling up is fine (though it's best if the scale of the pattern vary). Always choose a tie that shares a color with one other element, such as a belt or pocket square.

Signs of Quality

What are the hallmarks of a well-made suit? A well-made suit start with natural fabrics-such as wool, liners or cashmere-woven from fine yarns for a smooth durable feel. The best suit are made by hand according to time-honored tailoring traditions. Details such as high armholes, which allow for easy movement, and a slightly structured shoulder achieve a modern comfortable fit that is always in style.

Cuff links

What is the correct way to wear cuff links? Metallic cuff links should match your belt buckle, wristwatch, collar bar or the holder whereas colored links should compliment your shirt and tie. You can inject a personal taste and humor with a pair of shaped footballs or golf balls. For example, and of course, a traditional sterling-silver know or engine-turned ovals is always appropriate.

Ralph Lauren Watches Collection 2009

As the luxury watch market feels the pressure from the economy on its shoulders, you wouldn't expect to see new brands popping up. Regardless, this partnership between Polo Ralph Lauren and the Richemont Group took seed before the economic hit really began and there was no stopping this seemingly immune connection of fashion and haute horology.

The new Equestrian line from Ralph Lauren is separated into three collections. The first of which is the aptly named "Stirrup Collection" due to the shape of the watch case. No, it isn't the tombstone collection. These are no mere fashion watches as can be seen from their unveiling at which occurred at the luxury watch show SIHH 2009. Richemont is the name behind many luxury brands, some of which the Ralph Lauren collection borrows from literally and thematically.

Next is the Sporting Collection. I commented on how the Stirrup Collection looked like a design melding between Cartier and Hermes; well the same is true here. True to its name, the Sporting Collection is more sporty then the Stirrup of Classic Slim collection. Six large screws keep the bezel look strong, yet can pass for being functional if necessary. It's strong looks aren't aggressive looking though, which is nice as this watch says "I clean horses for fun."

This is the last of the first collections for the newly unveiled Ralph Lauren watch brand. The Classic Slim collection here is very different from the Sporting or Stirrup collection, though they all share use of Roman numeral dials. The Classic Slim collection houses the very thin RL430 movement derived from Piaget, another company by joint parent the Richemont Group. This slim Ralph Lauren watch is only 5.35mm thick.

The most noticeable element of the Classic Slim collection watches is the beautiful use of guilloche engraving machine work on the dial and bezel. The 42mm 18k rose gold case and silvered dial each share similar engraving patterns. Guilloche work is often done by hand on very old machines that must be kept running, as new ones aren't manufactured often or any longer.

Teenage Fashion Scene

The main issue for the youth is fashion. It’s very important because they have to fit really well in the teen fashion scene. Teenagers are out most of the time so they do need to look cool and ‘fit in’ everywhere they go. Jeans, cargos, hoodies, jerseys and tees for the guys. Stylish polos look cool too. For girls the list goes on and on. Shorts, tank tops, summer tees, skirts, and much more.

Latest fashions for teens say that the layered look is ‘in’. Hoodies are a rage, for girls too. They come in various prints, which look very cool on girls. If you’re hitting the beach then bikinis in bold and bright colors will give you a lot of second looks. The stores have a lot of discount offers and deals, if you’re on a tight budget. Get a couple of basic stuff that you can mix and match with your other outfits.

Funky, stylish and glamorous; teen fashion is all this and more. Many stores focus a lot on teen clothing because teenagers are always on the lookout for something new and funky. Any new design or style is made attractive for teens and marketed a lot among teen circles. Teens love to sport new styles in a unique and personalized way. That’s what keeps teen fashion fresh. Simple tees with a bit of glitter, ballerina shoes, striped hoodies and knit cabby hats are some of the freshly arrived fashion for teen. Putting an outfit together uniquely is what sets apart teen fashion from adult fashion. Funky belts, printed scarves, knee length boots are some of the crazy accessories that look cool on teens. It’s a good idea to get fashion updates from teens.

Fashion Concepts: How to be a Rockstar?

Fashion is often the earliest, easiest way a budding rocker tries to express himself. Just think of Pretty in Pink's Duckie, or that tortured guy in high school whose book bag was covered in patches, pins and scrawls. Sometimes, however, clothing can't express enough, so some rockers, such as R.E.M.'s Michael Stipe, Prince and, most recently, Chris Martin have all resorted to spelling it out literally on their bodies. You would have thought their music would be able to say enough.

Have you ever wanted to be a rockstar like Chris Cornell, Bono, or Dave Grohl? Of course you have. Who doesn't? Rock stars have lifestyles that most people envy. They have everything a guy could want-fame, wheels, and swooning girls.

You already have your own rockstar band but you still do not have a group of adoring fans. Maybe you still have not considered one very important thing that makes rockstars popular among the female population-the rockstar fashion. If you want to glam yourself up like a rock star, read the following tips and ideas.

• Rock stars appear to be the mysterious, serious, and brooding type of guys. The reason for this is their dark hair. Dark hair gives intensity to people. Blonde hair or light hair will make a person look less intense. For guys, it might make them appear like someone who is a member of a boy band instead of a rock band. So if you have light colored hair, dye it using dark colored hair dye and it will be like girl magnet.

• Leather jackets should also be a must-have in any rockstar wanna-be's closet. This piece of clothing can make any guy look tough and dangerous. You will usually see rock band member sporting a stylish leather jacket and girls cannot help but swoon. Most girls are attracted to bad and tough guys. They want someone who can protect them.

• If you want to look like a rock star and be swoon-worthy, get yourself some really cool and tough-looking tattoos like snakes or eagles or anything that looks tough. Do not put wimpy images or characters such as a cute poodle or a fairy. It might make you look a bit, um, feminine and they might even question your masculinity. Choose only masculine tattoos.

• Have some blings. Bling blings are not just for rappers and people belonging in the hip hop subculture. These are also used by rock stars-but not as big as used by rappers. Rock stars usually use silver like necklace and rings. They also usually have piercings everywhere-in their ears, eye brows, lips, tongue, and places where you can put piercings.

• Do not wear loose clothes or jeans-these are for the rappers. Usually, men wear straight cut or sometimes skinny jeans. Their t-shirts are also the same. T-shirts usually accentuates the body instead of hiding it. Rock stars also have a fondness for tattered and worn clothes and shoes. Their jeans are usually ripped in the proper places and t-shirts are sometimes cut off. They wear ratty shoes even if they can already afford to buy expensive ones. Maybe this adds depth or creativity to their personality.

If you can do these things, then by all means do them. However, some guys cannot pull it off and instead appears to be trying too hard. If you think you will be uncomfortable and it will not look natural on you, then you should consider other styles. These are not the standards of how a rock star should look like. This is just the common trend now. If you have your own trend or fashion, then do what you want to do and wear whatever you feel is comfortable for you.

Denim Jeans Vs. Leathers

Jeans originated long time ago and still have the greatest influence in fashion.

From folk’s patchwork jeans to metal’s second-skin leathers—the music world can be virtually divided by these two fabrics. Which side are you on?

Before you decide here's a brief history about Jeans

Jeans are pants, or trousers, made from denim. Mainly designed for work, they became popular among teenagers starting in the 1950s. Historic brands include Levi's and Wrangler.

Jeans are now a very popular form of casual dress around the world. They come in many styles and colors, however "blue jeans" are particularly identified with American culture, especially the American Old West. Americans spent more than $14 billion on jeans in 2004.

The word "jeans" comes from the Italian phrase blu di Genoa, which in the French translation is bleu Gênes, literally the blue of Genoa.

Jeans fabric, or denim, originated in the french town of Nîmes and owes its name to the location. In French, the fabric was known as "cotton de Nîmes," which abroad quickly became just "denim."

The first denim trousers were made in the French style in Chieri, a town near Turin (Italy), during the Renaissance, and were popularised in the 1500s. These trousers were sold through the harbour of Genoa, which was the capital of the independent Republic of Genoa which was a naval power.

The first examples of these trousers were made for the Genoese Navy, which required all-purpose pants for its sailors. They required pants that could be worn wet or dry, the legs of which could easily be rolled up to wear while swabbing the deck. These jeans were laundered by dragging them in large mesh nets behind the ship, and the exposure to sea water and sun would gradually bleach them to white. They were especially worn by Genoan sailors and stevedores who worked in Italy and France, and in 1860, during the Battle of Marsala, Sicily, were worn by general Giuseppe Garibaldi and his Italian troops.

Leather is a material created through the tanning of hides and skins of animals, primarily cattlehide. The tanning process converts the putrescible skin into a durable, long-lasting and versatile natural material for various uses.
-wikipedia

Leather Clothing has usually a brown, dark grey or black color. Leather jackets can be styled in a variety of ways, and different versions have been associated with different subcultures. For instance, the leather jacket has often been associated with bikers, military aviators, rock stars, punks, metalheads, and police, who have worn versions designed for protective purposes and occasionally for their potentially intimidating appearance.

In terms of versatility and comfort I'm with denims that lets you easier to find as there are less variants. The five choices of jeans are fits, cuts, washes, fabric options and embellishments.

A leather jacket is a wardrobe staple and great way to express your personal style. Warm and durable, but also timeless and classic, leather is an investment that pays off over and over through the years.

Now you got information what to choose from.... go ahead and shopp!! you can collect and combine the two for more fashionable style.

What to Wear as a Guest in a Wedding for Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall

If you've been invited to a wedding, then you'll need something suitable to wear. Your attire should depend on several factors. First, what does the invitation specify? Often the wedding invitation you receive will let you know if the wedding is black tie or more casual.

With this article you'll able to know what to wear in any seasons like winter, spring, summer or fall.

Black-Tie Weddings

For a black tie wedding, it's formal wear all the way. Ladies should wear gowns that are appropriately dressy, and gentlemen should of course wear tuxedos or dark suits.

If the wedding is not black-tie, then you have a lot more choices when it comes to what to wear. Choose your attire depending on the weather, season, and relationship to the bride and groom. If you're a close family member, then you'll want to dress up a bit. However if you're a casual acquaintance you can get away with dressing slightly more casually.

Spring Weddings

For spring weddings, try light fabrics and pastel colors. However, it's never a good idea to wear white to a wedding. Dresses should be of appropriate length and you should always wear stockings. Men should wear the same kind of attire that they would to church or the office -- slacks, blazer, and tie.

Summer Weddings

Summer weddings allow you to show a little more skin (but not much) because of the heat. Try spaghetti strap dresses in summery shades like yellow, orange, or pink. Or go classic and cool in neutral tones of beige and cream. Unless the wedding specifies that the dress code is casual, guys can expect to suffer through wearing slacks and a blazer.

Fall Weddings

For fall weddings, you can wear darker colors like burgundy, navy, and dark green. Fabrics as well will be heavier, and as always, stockings or pantyhose are an absolute must. Men should dress as they would for any semi-formal occasion as described above.

Winter Weddings

Winter weddings allow you to accent your outfits with necessary outerwear. A long, classic coat or faux fur is a great choice when you're attending a winter wedding. Fabrics and colors can be dark just like for fall. For guys, they can wear the standard dress ensemble of slacks, jacket and tie, or go slightly more casual in a nice sweater.

Basically, when deciding what to wear to a wedding, let common sense be your guide. Dress conservatively as if you were attending church. If you do that, you're sure to choose something that's appropriate and attractive.

Golden Globes Fashion 2009

Known worldwide for its glittering Golden Globe Awards ceremony held every January and its multi-million dollar donations to charity, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association had humble origins that stemmed solely from a group of journalists' desire to efficiently and accurately cover all aspects of the world of entertainment.

Here are some photos shoot in Golden Globe Awards where you can see celebrity wearing their fashionable designer clothes. See these eye catchy beautiful celebrity ladies with their finest gown.

Angelina Jolie wore a Versace gown to the Golden Globes.

Angelina Jolie's bloused Versace dress was just OK to begin with, but paired with her lackluster locks the effect was more drab than dramatic.

Drew Barrymore wore a dove gray Galliano for Dior gown

Drew Barrymore's soft dove gray dress was beautiful, but the messy hair threw off the whole look.

Beyonce wore a white Elie Saab gown to the Golden Globes

Beyonce was one of the few actresses to go all out with major bling, and although it fits her image, it looked out of place here. And the dress? Too tight.

Kate Winslet wore an Yves Saint Laurent gown to the Golden Globes

Of all the actresses who went for a subdued, elegant look, Kate Winslet absolutely nailed it. The sleek dress (and very svelte figure), the makeup and hair were all just perfect.

Anne Hathaway in sequined blue Armani Prive at the Golden Globes.

Anne Hathaway's deep blue dress was sophisticated and sexy like usually only a black dress can be.

Evan Rachel Wood wore a beaded black tiered gown to the 2009 Golden Globe awards

Evan Rachel Wood wore a stunning Elie Saab gown, which featured plunging front and back Vs and a tiered skirt.

Renee Zellweger wore a black, illusion-top with cold shoulders at the Golden Globes

Renee Zellweger's sheer cold-shoulder top and black mermaid skirt was stunning, if only because it's a huge departure from her usually safe-glam look (strapless dress, solid colors).

Amy Adams wore a black strapless Oscar de la Renta and Lorraine Schwartz jewelry.

With the trend toward subdued makeup and hair, some of the low-key dresses -- like Amy Adam's strapless Oscar de la Renta -- looked a bit on the plain side.

2009 Women's Fashion Trends

A new year is a new-era of fashion trends, refining last years designs and styles. Giving up a new and unique style to offer this coming year. Not really changing but giving up more drama to designer clothing. But its never been an easy thing. So whats really new about this year that we can catch up not just from the cat walk but from the street as well.
Bohemian Luxury: (Winter) 2009 Fashion Trend

It's a luxury take on a bohemian look. Part peasant, part Cossack, part sex-goddess rock chic.

Of course, 2009's Bohemian Luxury fashion trend has been a long time coming. With its most recent origins in the boho trend, it's strong gypsy and folk overtones mean that it might be the perfect personification of the foho trend.

While it is folk-inspired, and it is bohemian, it is also so much more. It has its roots in traditional folk elements - particularly Russian ones - but it fuses in luxury elements and rock-chic attitude.
The Key Elements to achieve this looks:

  • Billowy white peasant shirts
  • Fringed boots
  • Folk-inspired tooled leather pieces
  • Embroidery and paisley prints
  • Charm / coin belts and jewellery
  • Luxurious fur or fur-trimmed pieces
  • Fringed long skinny scarves
  • Bed hair and smudged smoky eye-makeup

Laddered stockings / ripped tights 2009 trend

The most defining trend of the 1990s was undoubtedly grunge. And since the 80s revival has reached its peak and is on the steady decline, it's the 90s that are next in turn - grunge naturally included. This neo-grunge takes the ripped denim trend firmly in its stride; and along with it comes another 2009 trend: laddered stockings.

The first we really noticed it was on Alexander Wang's Fall 2008 runway, in which beanies, boots and ripped tights made up a look that was rock chic meets neo-grunge. Since then, it's taken quickly to the streets - featuring in many a street-style blog across the web.

How to wear it
With conviction. Wearing a crisp, corporate skirt-suit and a pair of stockings with a little ladder or two just looks like an unfortunate run-in with a sharp fingernail. On the other hand, shredded tights with studded boots and a black mini screams fashion-forwards neo-grunge chic.

Military Trend: Autumn (Fall) 2009

While the luxury bohemian fashion trend takes elements from the Cossack, there's another, sharper military look taking shape for Autumn/Fall/Winter of 2009. It's a bit Sergeant Pepper; a bit rock; but it's also sleek and it's luxe.

How to wear it

Gold detailing and ornate trims set off slick military cuts. In 2009, there are a number of different looks you can create - from rock to edgy-feminine to bohemian.

Rock Chic
For the ultimate in rock chic, skinny pants or shiny leggings are the perfect accompaniment. Wear women designer clothes with killer heels and a killer attitude.

Feminine
This 2009 the almighty military jacket can also be played up with a feminine touch. Think Ralph Lauren; a boxy, red military-inspired jacket paired with a floor-length feathered gown. It's impractical, and it works.

Bohemian Luxe
Nothing compliments the Bohemian Luxe trend quite like a military-inspired piece. Team Gucci's over-the-knee fringed boots with skinny pants, foho prints, and a strict military jacket for a sexed-up bohemian look.

Feathers: Autumn (Fall)/Winter 2009 Fashion Trend

There's something about feathers - they conjure up images of graceful swans, of flitting sparrows, of fairytales, and the dream of flight that can only ever be a dream for we wingless creatures. As a Autumn/Fall/Winter 2009 trend, feathers and plumes add that ephemeral touch.

What is it?
Delicate feather details on dresses, skirts, hats, and collars, seen on the Autumn-Winter runways for 2008-2009. The key to the trend is elegance: no bright pink faux-feather boas, please. Ostrich, peacock, pheasant and marabou are some favorable feathers to look out for.
